Elevation for wood
Keeping the feet of your wooden picnic table out of the ground is key. Elevate the table slightly using wooden blocks or concrete pads, to allow air circulation and prevent water accumulation.

Clean before winter
Recycled plastic picnic tables are inherently durable, but they too benefit from some winter care. Regularly clean the surface with mild soap and water to remove dirt and debris.
Covering your picnic table can be an added protection for a UK winter, but isn't necessary.
Preventative care is best or both wood and recycled plastic - so if you keep the table clean, elevated away from water, and cover if you can, your picnic bench should have a long life, and see many winters
